Our Christmas Top 5

I have always been one for making memories. Experiences always seem to override "stuff", so when we thought about what we wanted December to look like, we knew we wanted to fill it with a ton of family fun and a lot of memory making. Although mid-December we had a hit of snow and my boys came down with the flu, we still managed to fit in more than a few of our favourite events even if it meant attending after Christmas!

If you are looking for some great Christmas events next year to check out, here is our list!

Every Christmas the Fort at Fort Langley is filled with family fun! This year, we decided last minute to make a trip out there.
We enjoyed some authentic spiced hot chocolate, crafts, songs, movies and roasted chestnuts while learning a bit of history on the way!
For a great family daytime event, we recommend the Fort! Your kids will be entertained by their scavenger hunt and if that doesn't do it, then the candy canes on their way out should!

At the beginning of December, we took a trip out to the Enchant Light Maze! It was a cold evening, but for this maze and some yummy pizza, it was worth the trip. Although it was insanely busy, the lights were amazing, so as a recommendation, go around the opening or closing time!
There is also the sweetest little market you can check out while you're there with some amazing locally made products, hot chocolate and of course, mini doughnuts!

At number 3: Bright Nights in Stanley Park
Perfect for your littles, especially those that love trains like our oldest.
Filled with over three million lights, fire trucks, and an epic train ride, Bright Nights made it as number 3 on my list this year. A train ride filled with songs, and entertainment it is an event any child will enjoy. One of my personal favourite things about this event is your donations and portions of the ticket sales go to the BC Professional Fire Fighter's Burn Fund as well.
The event also includes a visit to Santa's Workshop and a personal meeting with the man himself. End it all off with a photo with Santa, some kids colouring, a warm hot chocolate and churros.

At number 2: Fly Over Canada
Canada Place's Fly Over Canada easily made it onto my list at number 2. This event is an all-time favourite and as someone who is not a huge adrenal junkie this experience was a total rush, with the most stunning visual experience.
Fly over Canada is a breathtaking experience, a simulator that suspends you in front of a spherical screen. As you fly over the Rocky Mountains and Niagra Falls you will feel the mist of the water, the smell of the trees and the wind in your hair. The experience is a must-see, and this Christmas they include a special trip to the North Pole, to take a closer look at Santa's Workshops.
Although not suitable for younger children, for older kids, parents and anyone else it is quite the Christmas event to hit up next Winter.

Although it took us all winter to finally get there, we made it out to Vandusen on the last night of them being open! As per usual, this event is one of a kind. This is our 4th year attending Festival of Lights and it is like it always gets better every year. Enjoy their gorgeous garden filled with millions of lights, instrumental light shows, more mini doughnuts, a carousel and so much more!
This is an event you too do not want to miss next year with the whole family!
Our boy is still talking about his fun in their Sound House and we will for sure be back there next year!

I hope you enjoyed our favorite Christmas event list, and we hope to run into you at a few of these events next year! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
